Today, I wanted to tell you all about another CBD product called CBD Isolate that solves two of the biggest problems that many people face when it comes to CBD – price and THC content- and show you how to use it to make a simple, inexpensive, THC-free CBD Oil. How To Mix CBD Isolate With MCT Oil? So get ready to feel like alchemists concocting concoctions. Even so, the preparation will be basic and you will be able to handle it without difficulty.

How to Make CBD Oil with CBD Isolate (Inexpensive & THC Free)

CBD has quickly become one of the most powerful tools in my chronic illness toolkit.

For the uninitiated, CBD (short for Cannabidiol) is one of 113 different cannabinoids found in the marijuana/hemp plant. On its own, it’s non-psychoactive which means you will not get high from consuming CBD. Yet it’s believed to be responsible for many of the medicinal effects of cannabis.

I’ve posted several times about my experiences with CBD, and every time the response has been incredible. CBD helps my stress and anxiety more than any other supplement I’ve ever come across, and has really improved my quality of life with Meniere’s disease since I first tried it almost a year ago. I know many of you have experienced the same!

So today, I wanted to tell you all about another CBD product called CBD Isolate that solves two of the biggest problems that many people face when it comes to CBD (price and THC content) and show you how to use it to make a simple, inexpensive, THC-free CBD Oil.

CBD Isolate Powder:

(I will be discussing the CBD isolate powder offered by CBDistillery, though other companies offer it as well. CBDistillery is known for both exceptional quality and great pricing.)

CBD isolate is a 99+% pure crystalline powder form of CBD. One gram (1000 mg) of CBD isolate contains 990+ mg of CBD.

It’s also far less expensive than other forms of CBD. At CBDistillery, 1000mg of CBD isolate is actually half the price of the 1000mg full spectrum CBD oil.

Unfortunately, many CBD products are still incredibly expensive, and I know this prevents a lot of people from taking full advantage of the benefits CBD has to offer. Prices have come down over the past year or two, but there are still many unscrupulous vendors charging far more for products of equal or lesser quality. The CBD market is still in its infancy.

CBD isolate is also THC-free, which solves another potential problem that some people have with full spectrum CBD oils.

All full spectrum CBD oils contain trace amounts of THC (the legal limit for hemp products in the US is .3% THC), as well as many other cannabinoids. All of these cannabinoids work together to provide a synergistic effect known as the entourage effect that can enhance the medicinal benefits.

It’s not enough THC to get you high, but it will make you test positive on a marijuana drug test. And this prevents a large portion of the population from freely using CBD.

I’ve personally been using CBDistillery’s CBD isolate to help me get to sleep as of late. Interestingly, I find it much more sedating than most full spectrum CBD oils, especially at higher doses. So it’s quickly becoming a regular part of my routine.

As an ingredient, CBD isolate can be consumed in its powdered form, but it’s so much easier to work with if you use it to make a simple CBD oil.

I’ll show you how, step-by-step!

What You’ll Need:

CBDistillery Isolate Powder: I used the 1g CBD Isolate Powder from CBDistillery, but you can also use the CBD Formulation powder, which is a much finer powder. Use the offer code TINNITUS-CBD FOR 10% off.

MCT or Other Oil: I used a refined version of MCT oil called Brain Octane Oil by Bulletproof, but other MCT oils will work perfectly. MCT oil is flavorless and odorless, which makes for a good carrier oil. But you can also use olive oil or other oils as well if you prefer the taste.

Oral Syringe or Small Measuring Cup to Measure the Oil: I used a 5 ml syringe with a blunt tip filling needle to measure out the oil, but any oral syringe or small measuring cup will do just fine.

30 ml Dropper Bottle (or other container): I used a 30 ml dropper bottle, but you can use any sterile glass container.

Optional Measured Dropper for Dropper Bottles: These dropper caps replace the droppers included with the 30 ml dropper bottles above. They have measurement markings, so you can accurately measure your dose of CBD every time.

Small Funnel, Scoop, or Spoon: I used a lab scoop to transfer the CBD powder to the bottle, but you can use any sort of small funnel or spoon as well.

Step 1: Decide how concentrated you want your CBD oil to be. I used a ratio of 1000mg CBD Isolate to 20 milliliters of MCT oil, for a final concentration of 50mg of CBD per milliliter.

If you are unsure, I recommend 1000mg CBD to 30 ml of oil, which will give you a CBD oil with concentration of 33 mg CBD per milliliter.

Step 2: Transfer the CBD Isolate powder to the bottle or container. I used a lab scoop for this, but it can also be done with a funnel, small measuring spoon, or any other small scoop.

Step 3: Measure out your oil and add it to the container. I used a 5 ML syringe with a blunt tip filling needle, but you don’t have to. Once you measure the oil, you can just carefully pour it into the container.

Step 4: Screw the cap on the dropper bottle/container and shake it for 30 second to 1 minute. It can take a while for the CBD powder to dissolve into the oil, but once it dissolves, it should not recrystallize back out.

You can speed up this final step by placing the closed dropper bottle/container in a glass of hot water.

How to Use the CBD Isolate Oil:

Once your CBD oil is finished, it can be used just like any other CBD oil!

You can measure out a dose of oil and consume it orally, take it sublingually by leaving it under your tongue for a minute or two, or you can use it as an ingredient to infuse food or drinks with CBD!

Technically you can use the CBD isolate powder in your cooking as well, but the oil makes it much easier to work with as an ingredient. It works well in smoothies and hot chocolate, too.

I hope you all find this helpful!

Where can you buy CBD oil?
I also have menier’s. How will it help me?

Hi Ellie, if you want full spectrum oil, my top recommendation would be CBDistillery. You can read my review of their oils and get a discount code for your purchase here:

Joanne Jamieson

Silly question…. so does 1g of isolate only make 1 x 30ml bottle.

Hi Joanne, it all depends on how concentrated you want it to be. If you want CBD oil that is 10mg per 1ml (300mg per 30ml vial), then 1000mg of CBD isolate would make 3x30ml bottles with 100mg left over. I generally like making it more concentrated so I can take less oil per dose, but that’s just my personal preference.

Angel Vic

Great video – very helpful, thank you!

If I use another oil, say olive or coconut oil – would it dissolve the same way and not recrystallize? Or is that quality unique to the MCT oil you used?

Is the CBD isolate fat-soluble…i.e. does it even NEED to be with an oil?

What’s the shelf-life of the isolate?

Hi Angel, good question. CBD isolate is fat soluble so other oils will work perfectly, but I would advise against coconut oil because it is not liquid at room temperature. As far as shelf-life, I’m honestly not sure. That might be a better question to ask CBDistillery or one of the other CBD companies.

I use mct oil fractionated coconut oil – because it does not have any odor, does not go bad nor does it ever go to a solid- the solids have been removed

You can buy liquid Coconut oil

Are you able to use the CBD oil in a vape? Would it ruin the coils?

Hi Tara, you cannot vape this kind of CBD oil. You need to buy CBD vape liquid instead.

Thanks so much! Figured so

But you can absolutely add and dissolve the isolate to your favorite “vape juice” in the same manner and vape away.

Yes you can, though CBD isolate is not water soluble, so if there is too much propylene glycol in the vape liquid, the CBD will recrystallize in the liquid.

mix your oil with
( EJ mix only ) will never separate and us in reg vaping. work great i use it all time.

You can make you own by combining polyethylene glycol and vegetable glycerine with the CBD product

Adam Miller

Propylene glycol not polyethylene lol don’t want ppl making CBD antifreeze to vape

Miles Torres

Super helpful, thanks. I’ve been wanting to make my own cbd oil for a while but wasn’t sure about ratios. This cleared it up for me.

Glad you find this helpful!

Vapin’ X-Smoker (@VapinXsmoker)

Anyone wanting to make their own Vape CBD e-liquid.
I make my own CBD Vape e-liquid using propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). I do a 50/50 ratio of PG/VP (You change the ratio if you want) and a half a gram (0.5 grams) in a 50ml bottle. That ends up being 10mg CBD per milliliter. I keep mine unflavored, so I can drop a few drops on my coil and vape it without changing my favorite flavors. You can add a few drops directly into the tank and fill the rest with your preferred e-liquid, it’s up to you. You can also add it to any drink or put a few drops under your tongue as long as it’s nicotine free, since PG and VG are food grade. Ask your local vape shop if they will sell you a bottle of unflavored PG/VG of your desired ratio, most shops don’t have problem with that, I know the one I work for doesn’t mind. I purchase my CBD Isolate powder from CBDistillery, a half a gram is $15 plus shipping.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. For some reason for me it still recrystallizes even after I bathe it in hot water a few times and shake the heck out of it. I used 70vg 30pg 30ml bottle with 1500mg of CBD isolate. It looks good when melted but then it recrystallizes. Does this happen to you? What should I do? Thanks

What’s my ratio of cbd isolate to mct if I want to do 1000 mg and 1500 mg?

I’m not sure I understand

I want 1000 mg also what did you find out how much powder to oil ?

Hi Harry, if you want a bottle of oil with a total of 1000mg CBD isolate, you simply need to add 1g CBD isolate to however much oil you would like. Ultimately, you need to decide on the concentration. For example, 1000mg CBD isolate in 30ml of oil would give you a tincture with a concentration of 33.33mg CBD per 1ml of oil.

Does MCT oil have any pain properties like CBD oil? Or is MCT oil basically an “inert” vehicle? I have a 250 MG tincture that
on the ingredient label it quotes 99% MCT oil to 1% CBD. What sort of pain relief do I expect from this?

The MCT oil is just a carrier oil. It’s not inert exactly, MCT oil has a few interesting health properties, but any benefit is coming from the CBD and other cannabinoids. I’ve used CBD oils with other carrier oils, like olive oil and hemp seed oil as the base, and found them to be equally effective.

Are cbd Crystal’s in the cbd capsules they sell? Can I make cbd oil from the capsules?

Hi Janet, I dont think so, but you wouldn’t want to do this because the softgels are more expensive on a per mg basis. It’s worth while to do this because you save money and the end product is thc free, which is important for some people.

Jamie Wilson

Hi Glenn, With your 50mg oil, how many mL’s are you using to accomplish sleep? Did you start off with a smaller dose? Thanks in advance.

I generally use about .4-.6 ML, which is about 20-30 mg CBD to help me fall asleep. 30 mg of isolate is a very sedating dose for me. Though I usually take this amount at night, regardless of whether it’s the isolate oil or another kind of CBD.

Hello. I have 500mg of CBD isolate. Do I mix it in 15ml of oil

You can! This would give you an oil with 33.33mg of CBD per mL of oil.

Hi, great article… My math really sucks, can you help me please? I am suffering from a very painful Crohns like disease with painful open, weeping legions… I mixed 3.5 grams of cbd isolate with 60 ml of liquid coconut oil… It went well and totally dissolved… What is the strength of my concoction? Also, if I want to do 50mg doses of cbd, how much of a dropper would I take to achieve the 50mg dose? Half dropper, full dropper, 2 or 3 drops of the concoction? I cannot figure out how much is in each dropper… I want to figure out how long this 60ml bottle of my concoction will last me doing 50mg per day… I hope this is clear to you as this is all new to me… Your wisdom and input is very much appreciated…

Hi Casey, I’ll do my best to help you with the math! If you dissolved 3500mg of CBD into 60ml of Liquid, then you made an oil with a concentration of about 58.33mg per milliliter of liquid. Assuming you have a standard 2oz (60mL) boston round glass tincture bottle, a full dropper is probably around mL, or just under 2ml.

So to take a dose of 50mg CBD, you probably wants slightly less than half a dropper full. And this should give you about 70 x 50mg Doses (70×50=3500).

Thank you, that was about what I thought, in that ball park…

Hi there … I suffer from Hidradenitis Suppurativa (H.S.) and I switched from smoking high potency Marijuana to vaping CBD Isolates. I tried every product I could locally source (oils, gummies, edibles, even high strength CBD vape cartridges) and now I swear by CBD Isolates. Place 15-30 mg of pure crystal in my Yocan dual coil ‘wax’ pen and inhale a cloud of bliss. Nothing works as fast as the vaped isolate and it knocks the pain out completely. For bedtime I prefer a terpene infused isolate with a terpene profile that is closest to a strong medicinal MJ strain like Grand Daddy Purple. The terpenes work very well to enhance the effects of the CBD. I have been able to stop taking handfuls of Ibuprofen, Vicodin, and Ultram. CBD is a gift from God and in the words of the late Steve Allen:
“May your God be with you” …. peace, Peter

So glad to hear this is helping you Peter! This is one of the few ways of consuming CBD that I’ve yet to try, but have been meaning to try for a long time. Got any good recommendations for wax pens?

Hi Glenn, my choice is the Yocan Evolve plus and that has dual quartz coils, a handy storage compartment, and a very powerful battery. That model runs about $30 at my local head shop. First one lasted nearly 8 months until I broke the USB connector by jamming the cord into it by mistake. CBD Isolate burns so much cleaner than MJ wax and the Yocan hardly ever clogs, and it never runs down the side. I bust it down once every two weeks and use Walmart non-chlorinated aerosol brake cleaner to keep it like new clean. Vaping isolate in a wax pen is the best method I have found – instant relief and very easy to medicate (smiles). Peace, Peter

casey peavoy

Hi Peter… I guess the CBD Isolate does not help heal your wounds? Right?

You just made me cry, tears of hope Peter! I’ve been in agony for the last two years, with my back, then my knee….two torn meniscus & a torn ACL! I can’t walk, for a year now, trying to get Off pain meds, just started Thank god on to CBD . I’m going to try to find your vape pen, you are an angel, , Tammy

Thanks for the tips Peter! I recently just picked up a portable dry herb vape with a concentrates attachment that can vape isolate. Haven’t tried it yet but I have 2g of isolate on hand and will be trying it soon! I have experimented with vaping CBD hemp flower though which is a whole different experience and probably the most powerful (and enjoyable) CBD experience I’ve had to date. This is something I will be covering on the blog at some point soon.

Yes, my condition is HS… What a pain in the ass! I have had 12 major surgeries, armpits, groin, buttocks, to no avail… Has the CBD isolate helped clear up any breakouts for you or are you just managing pain? I am trying this on my own, as there is close to zero info on CBD isolate in the HS forums… Hopefully, we can help others out with this…Thanks and sorry that you suffer from this as well… Godspeed…

Hi Casey, Sorry about the delay as I spent some time writing a reply and then deleted it by accident. CBD isolate is really helping me with both pain and inflammation. I have had HS most of my adult life but I was misdiagnosed as “Really Bad Acne” until just this year. I would highly suggest you Google “Amber Taylor Dr. Pimple Popper” for the female perspective, and the TED talk “Bringing HS (Hidradenitis Suppurativa) Out Of The Dark with Jackson Gillies” for the male side. Good luck with your battle. Peace, Peter

casey peavoy

Haha! I hate when the delete thing happens! I watched those videos and have tried all of it… CBD is my last hope… I am hoping for the best… Thanks for your encouragement…

Adam Miller

You try the ceramic dish coil for that yet? No waste underneath the quarts rods and coils.

Have you tried Humira yet? That drug along with CBD and reducing all stress (that is my trigger) are my big three. Peace, Peter

casey peavoy

No… Humira and cbd are the only things I have not tried… I am going to try the cbd isolate until January and if it is not working, I will ask for the Humira… I am a little leary about the side effects of Humira… Hoping the cbd works… I have been on 50mg a day, under the tongue, for 4 days now and I have not noticed any change at all… I have about a 2 month bottle of cbd oil I made with 3.5 grams of isolate mixed with 60ml of MCT coconut oil… Fingers crossed…

Allen Sirken

Be very afraid of the side effects of humira. It depresses your immune system to virtually zero. Any dormant diseases in your body (shingles, etc) will come alive. I believe humira is an evil drug that should never have been FDA approved.

nancylou thomas

Due to just reading the side effects and costs of the RX for Psoriasis…..will not even try….I’m a psoriasis arthritis. arthritis (osteoporosis) patient…before trying CBD…full bilateral hip/knee replacements….been on the CBD oil.for over 1 year, .500 mg. 1 or 2 droppers per day…took about a month to see relief…hand arthritis/trigger fingers in complete remission….psoriasis outbreaks lessened (believe diet has a big play in)…now to help defray costs…will be trying the CBD isolate w/MTC oil…..1000 mg. in a 1 gr. make one or two 1 oz. bottles…..hoping this will be as helpful…anyone else switch over?

Hey Casey … I would like to share my treatment plan with you if you want to email me you can: p_nikolich at I never could get enough CBD to help with HS from smoking MJ and I am now taking at least 300 mg of pure Isolate daily – I read this is the dosage used by people with seizures. Yes CBD helping me but alas no two people are the same. Peace, Peter

Anne Neighbors

If I want to make cbd oil at 600mg, what would the cbd/oil portions be using 1,000 of isolate?

I’m not sure what you mean. If you are using 1000mg of isolate, the oil will be 1000mg, regardless of how much oil you dissolve it into. The concentration per milliliter is what changes based on the amount of oil you use, not the total mg of CBD. If you want the oil to have 600mg, you would need to use a milligram scale to weigh out 600mg of CBD isolate, and just add the 600mg to your oil.

Anne Neighbors

In terms of Tablespoons, how much would I measure using 20 milliliters of oil?

Hi Anne, it would be hard to do with a tablespoon, but 1 TEASPOON is 4.92892 ml, so 4 teaspoons will put you right around 20 ml.

Hi I just attempted to make my first CBD isolate oil using mct oil with 1g of isolate powder in a 30 ml bottle.
Did the hot water bath and from what I can see it looks like the powder looks like it desolved .
Should the oil look 100 % clear or is it ok if it’s slightly cloudy looking ?

Yes! It should look relatively clear, but I think a little bit of cloudiness is okay too. Did it ever clear up more? Or is it still a little cloudy?

Yes it cleared up …I didn’t let it get hot enough at first …so I gave it another hot water bath and left it in a bit longer and a little bit hotter that seem to do the trick …it’s nice and clear now.

How hot was your water and how long did you leave it in the water? TIA

Okay you probably already answered this question, I’ve been making my own Isolate oil with MCT oil. So one gram 1,000 mg. Mixed in 30 ML bottle is how many mg. Per dropper full? (Which is about 20 drops) …

If I were to use 2g of CBD Isolate with 40 mil of MCT oil
How strong would my cbd oil be?

And how do you figure the math I suck at math sorry

Hi Chantal, if you were to use 2g CBD isolate with 40ml MCT oil, your tincture would be 50mg CBD/ml.

To figure it out you just divide the isolate (2000mg in this case) by the ml of oil. So 2000/40=50.

Hope that helps!

1000mg of isolate and I want to make 300mg oils. How much oil and isolate do I need to mix for it to be 300mg per 30ml bottles?

Hi Lisa, if you want it to be 300mg CBD per 30ml bottle of oil, use 300mg of isolate and fill the bottle with 30ml of MCT or another oil. The end result will be 10mg CBD per ML.

What kinds of oils can I use?

Alice Castine

So 1g cbd isolate in 100ml oil would be 10mg/ml, correct? How would I know the dosage with “dabbing”, if I understood correctly that can be done? Ir if I wanted to add just the powder without making oil?

Hi Alice, you are correct about the 10mg/ml concentration of the oil. But you don’t need to make oil for dabbing. You can just use the isolate for dabbing, in fact, CBDistillery makes a bunch of isolate powders mixed with terpenes for a better dabbing experience:

Hi Glenn where do I get the right instruction to come to CBD induced bottled water. As so far I only have the CBD paste from professional lab

Hi Mariska, you can’t use CBD isolate like this with water as it’s not water soluble, only fat soluble. You can find water soluble CBD powder, but it’s generally much more expensive, and I don’t have any specific vendors or products to recommend here.

Kristin Nitz

Thank you. I was going to buy flower and make my own cbd oil. I had a terrible accident and I am on Norco. I want OFF this stuff and i know CBD oil work. I have used it in the past but it is so expensive! This article was great. I had no idea what crystls and powder were. This is much better since it is hard to find flower that is either extreemly low on thc or none.

You have done a great job explaining this and I think I am going to give it a try. BUT, Man I wish when i went to school (the 80’s) they taught us the metric system. All these numbers are SOOOOO confusing. I like fl oz, tsp, tbl etc. LOL I am going to have to find some sort of conversion chart or something to be able to do this. Otherwise I could really screw it up. But I will give this a try. Wish me luck! Thanks again.

Hi Kristin, you can just use google for conversions like this. But keep in mind that to make CBD oil from CBD flower, you are going to have to perform some kind of extraction first to remove the CBD and activate it. These instructions only work if you are starting with CBD isolate powder.

Rebekah A Spears

I followed another person’s advice and warmed up my 30 ml of vg and then added the 990 mg of medterra Cbd powder. It’s not dissolving and I’m unsure of what to do. I still have it in a measuring cup with a lid and since I know it is uv sensitive I have covered the measuring cup with black electrical tape. Please help.

JD Speakman

Hey, you really need to use PG (Propylene Glycol) to dissolve CBD powder, not VG. If you don’t want PG only, you can get away with 50 PG/50 VG, but dissolve fully in the half amount of PG first, then add the half amount of VG and mix well. It can also help to gently warm the VG first, which makes it thinner, before adding to the PG

Thanks for the great post. I bought CBDistillery isolate but used a different MCT oil and I cannot seem to get rid of thousands of tiny particles. I just heated it for 30 minutest at 174 degrees and the particles are still there. Is there a big difference in the MCT oils?

Hi Liz, there shouldn’t be a difference – any MCT oil should work. How much CBD did you use and how much MCT oil?

Can you use this same formula with straight oil extract?

I’m not sure what you mean

Hi! This article is great. I wondered if you had ever considered adding terpenes? I’ve been researching this and there are companies that sell liquid terpene profiles for a more tailored entourage effect. Do you have any perspective or experience with this?

Hi! What if I want to add a flavor….what would you suggest to use? Thank you!

That is a very good question. I do not really know anything about flavor additives. But I do know that you can purchase and add hemp terpenes! So that is what I would do.

Mark Hassett

Hi I used 20g of 1000mg cbd isolate into 900ml of mct oil how do I work out the strength? Thanks

Hi Mark, if I’m understanding you correctly, you dissolved 20,000mg (20g) of CBD isolate into 900ml MCT oil, so the math would be 20,000/900 which equals 22.22mg CBD per 1ml.

Hi is a there a specific formula used to calculate how strong your cbd will be once oil and isolate are mixed.

Divide the total mg of CBD by the milliliters of oil you use to get the concentration of in mg of CBD per mL.

Good day
I have a litre of 100mg CBD oil and need to make it stronger preferably 300mg how much more powder should I add seems what I made is too weak thank you in advance your help has been amazing

Hi Deborah, I need a little bit more info. How much CBD is in the 1 liter in total? And are you sure it’s 1 liter?

It works out to 100mg CBD per 30ML bottle and I have a litre of it in total.

Sorry what I meant is the current strength would be 100mg CBD in each 30ML bottle if I was to take the litre I have made and put it in individual bottles

Hey can I use Hemp Seed oil as the carrier? Also you mentioned 1G or 1000mg will make 30ml/oz bottles…. with a 100mg left over… So the CBD potency is 35% for each… I think Im following the math.. Also if it sits after the heating up recipe does it need to be reheated or good to go…

Yes you can use Hemp Seed Oil as the carrier! As far as the math, if you get 1g of CBD isolate, and use the whole thing, it will all dissolve into 30ml with nothing left over. So the concentration would be 33mg CBD per mL of oil. Hope that helps!

Hello Glenn- I am trying to make a 1/2 oz. (15ml) tincture from a CBD full-spectrum oil, not the isolate. I’ve spent hours trying to find a resource that can help me. 10 drops of my CBD oil equals 25mg of CBD. Can you tell me the ratio of MCT oil and CBD oil to make a 500mg 15ml full spectrum tincture? You will be my hero forever if you can shed wisdom on this subject.

Hi Lynne, I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to do. Full spectrum CBD oil is a bit different than what we are talking about here, and is usually made by using some kind of extraction process involving solvents on raw hemp material.

Are you just trying to change the concentration of a full spectrum CBD oil you already have? If so, there is no reason to do this. The tincture is already oil that you can use.

Thank you so much, Glenn, for your response. To shed a bit of light on the subject, I am a formulator for a small organic skincare company. We ordered our full spectrum CBD oil from a wholesale source (CO2 extracted, 3rd party verified). We have already made a fabulous salve from the CBD extract and wish to now make a tincture in .5oz. bottles with a dropper. Many tinctures on the market today feature the cbd extract along with a carrier oil, like MCT….and some even add a bit of sweeter to make the taste more pleasant. My question is: do you have any idea or can you point me to someone who can tell me how much MCT carrier oil do I mix with the CBD extract to have a 500mg. tincture? In other words, if there was a recipe out there I could look at, that would help. The CBD extract I have has the strength of 10 drops=25mg. Just am clueless how to put this together. Thanks, Glenn.

Okay I understand now. You are starting with a CBD oil concentrate and want to turn it into tincture. This is something I am less familiar with, but I think I can help. When you say 10 drops is 25mg, I’m guessing that you you are going by the standard 20 drops = 1ml conversion. If this is the case, then 1ml should contain 50mg CBD. (Do not measure in drops, measure volumetrically in milliliters for accuracy. I’ve never found 20 drops to actually be exactly 1 ml)

Assuming all of the above measurements are correct, then I think you will want to mix 10mL of your CBD extract, which would be 500mg of CBD, with an additional 5ml MCT oil, to get a final concentration of 500mg CBD and 15ml oil. You could scale that up to make larger batches, though there may be other steps to make it mix evenly that I’m not aware of, because I haven’t actually done this with CBD extract oil before. Hope this helps!

Where can u buy CBD Isolate uk?

Hi Emma, I’m actually don’t know of any reputable vendors in the UK that sell isolate. I’m sure they exist, I just don’t know of them personally. The vendors I do know in the UK only sell full spectrum CBD products.

Good morning Glenn!
Wanted to thank you ever so much for you taking the time to answer my questions. I’m going to try what you suggested because it sounds right on. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Again, thank you for taking the time to help those of us who don’t have quite as much wisdom!
Yours truly,

You’re welcome! Let me know how it goes, and I definitely recommend you try just making one bottle, rather than a batch, so you don’t waste it if it doesn’t come out right!

Mohammed Ali

A question I have, would this be the same as buying CBD Oil? For example, if I bought CBD isolate and made it in to an Oil could I then go on and sell that?

You could technically sell it I guess, and it would be the same as purchasing CBD isolate oil, but different than full spectrum CBD oils which have more than just pure CBD.

After reading all the posts I got the gist on how to make oil from isolate……can you Please tell me how to make Gummies from isolate? I’ve searched till I was blind, unless I wanted to make it into oil first…….can you save me an extra step? Thank you

Hi Tammy, this is something I actually don’t have any experience with. I’ve made CBD isolate infused baked goods like cookies, but never gummies. Sorry!

Jon Selvakumar

I put 2000mg CBD isolate in 30ml of MCT coconut oil, then let it sit in a 100 F water bath for 2 hours. It all dissolved, but when it cooled back down to room temp (70 F) I had a lot of crystals form. What did I do wrong? The new crystals are like snowflakes. They sell 2000mg CBD in 30 ml dropper bottles from CBDistillery. I should be able to duplicate that, I was a chemist for 12 years. But something isn’t right. Maybe I’ll have to heat it up to 100 F again before I use any. Comments, advice, please?

Hmm, hard to say why it recrystallized out of the MCT oil, but you are correct that even higher ratios are possible. What kind of MCT oil did you use? Maybe there were impurities in the oil (I honestly don’t know, that’s just a guess). Worst comes to worse, you can always redissolve it by putting it back in hot water.

Phil Rubenzer

Thanks for replying. It was MCT oil derived from fractionated coconut oil. It was liquid and very clear at room temp. I figure I’ll just heat it up before I use it. The crystals look very pure, more so than the isolate I started with.

Hello, I am going to begin making my own CBD tinctures with the isolate. I have been seeing many people infusing the oils with herbs and was wondering if you knew the steps to this process?

Hi Tiffany, I don’t unfortunately! But let us know how it goes if you give it a try!

Colette N Coffey

I put my cbd isolate oil in a measuring spoon and didnt realize it had water in it. Then I added it to a salve I was making. Most of it seems to have drained off… does that effect the potency or quality of the already mixed isolate?

Terrance Manion

I have a question.

I have idiopathic chronic pain. There is plenty of arthritis (osteo) and multiple spinal issues, my knees are bone on bone and my shoulders are pretty much shot. Pain, while generally low grad, never, EVER stops. It is next to impossible to do any actual work for more than a few minutes before I have to take a break.

I have a Medical Cannabis card from the state of NY and have got a few items that seem to help.

I have a gram of isolate and was told I could mix it into a lotion that I could then use on my joints and other areas of my body that ache.

Then I read that it has to be infused into oil, first. I picked up some baby oil which lists its ingredients as “Mineral oil, fragrance”–will that work?

Also, if I mix it in to say, 30ml (2 Tbsp?) of iil and then mix that into the lotion will that give me a lotion that will have a fairly constant dosage level per given amount used?

Sonya Murray

What’s the strongest oil I could make? I have a lot of isolate and just ordered some tincture bottles and looking to get some MCT oil. I would like to make a very potent oil. Do you have a recommendation on the maximum amount of isolate I could use and how to make it? Thanks in advance

Hi Sonya, I actually don’t know what the maximum concentration of isolate possible is. I’ve seen oils though with as much as 5000mg CBD in 30ml oil, and I’m guessing more is possible. Worst case scenario, if you add too much isolate and it starts to crystalize out of suspension, you can always just add more oil until it dissolves again.

Hi Glenn: Can I add CBD powder to my already pre mixed CBD Tincture to make it stronger? I have 30 ml bottle of 1000 mg and want to make it 1500 mg. Thank you, your web site is very helpful.

Yes that should work perfectly. I think some companies actually do this to create higher concentration tinctures that are still sort of “full spectrum”

hi Glenn thank you so much for wonderfully answering to all of us, we have full spectrum distillate that varies from 85 to 91 percent of CBD how would i mix it with MCT oil in to 2 oz 60 ml bottle to make it 3000 mg CBD strength ? Lea

Hi Lea, I’m actually not 100% sure about the process of making tincture oil with distillate. I think there are additional steps beyond what I’ve described here when working with isolate powder. But to understand the math, let’s say your distillate is 85%, then every gram of distillate you use contains 850mg CBD. So if you want your final end product to contain 3000mg CBD, the math is 3000/850 = 3.529, so 3.53g of your 85% distillate contains 3000mg CBD. Hope that helps!

Hi Glenn, any comments about adding a flavor, like orange, strawberry….etc? Thanks

Hi Mike, I know you can do this, but I really don’t know anything about flavor additives, so I don’t have any specific advice here. Sorry!

useful blog about cbd oil and cbd isolate.. thanks for sharing this cbd blog

Thanks for the info! Appreciated. Thanks for all the math calculations.
We have added 5 drops of food grade peppermint oil to 30ml tinctures to add a little flavor.

HI Glenn,
Thanks for the great article and Q&A section. This is all very new to me. And also my math down right sucks so want to make sure I am following you correctly.
Basically if I mix: 1 gram of CBD Isolate with 20 ml of MCT oil I will end up with a concentration of 50 mg / ml ??
I am wanting to use 25 mg twice a day.
So if I want to try 25 mg twice a day. I would need to use 10 drops of the solution twice a day? and this could be under my tongue?
In doing so, approximately how long would one mixture last me?
Sorry for all the questions, but this is very interesting.

Hi Todd, your math is correct, and if you were planning to use 50mg total each day, this would last you 20 days. Each .5ml dose would be 25 mg. I’m not really convinced on measuring with drops though. The best way to measure would be with a graduated dropper that has measuring markers on the side. If you don’t have that though, and you are using a 30ml (1oz) tincture bottle, the dropper that comes with it holds about 1ml total when filled up as much as it will go (it only will fill 2/3 or 3/4 of the way up the dropper). So half of a “full dropper” will be 25mg. Hope that helps!

Laura R. Johnson

CBD oil contains cannabidiol as an oil carrier/base. On the other hand, CBD tincture has an alcohol base. Regardless of their base, both mimic the same therapeutic properties

5 grams of Cbd isolate divided into 3 30ml bottles with 20ml mct oil will give me what dosage per 1ml dropper? What would be a starter dosage and what would the strength be?

Doesn’t the volume of the two solutions increase. I mean if you were to mix 1000mg cbd isolate to 1 milliliter MCT oil, then the volume increases to make one solution. What I mean is, the solution is now more than 1 milliliter. If I have very full glass of water and I put a cube of sugar, the water is going to spill. Do you understand what I’m saying. My head doesn’t understand how the same MCT oil which was 1 milliliter to begin with is still 1 milliliter with the addition of 1000mg of a weight of cbd isolate.

HI, If i want to make 100ml oil with 600mg cbd, then how much cbd isolate powder i have to put in 100ml oil? or i want to make 150gm healing balm with 600 mg cbd, then how much cbd isolate need? thanks

I found a product of premixed CBD oil for my dog and its been working but Im looking to make my own mix from the CBD isolate and MCT (or similar oil). The product I currently have is 2.75% but the explanations above are talking about dosage amount in milligrams. How does the milligram dosage convert to percentage? Also, what would the formula be to reach 2.75% in a 10ml bottle?

Thanks in advance

How To Mix CBD Isolate With MCT Oil?

So get ready to feel like alchemists concocting concoctions. Even so, the preparation will be basic and you will be able to handle it without difficulty.

Use clean, hygienic tools to make it, just as you would in a hospital. We will need CBD isolate, which comes in the form of a powder and does not contain THC. We’ll also need the MCT oil mentioned earlier. For measuring the oil, an oral syringe will suffice. To mix the materials, you’ll need a tiny sterile vial or container with a lid. Finally, a small spoon or a standard funnel made of paper is required.

1) Decide on the concentration first. If you’re just getting started, 1000 mg of CBD per 30 ml of oil is a good starting point. A CBD oil concentration of 33 mg CBD per milliliter will result. As you gain experience, you will be able to alter the dosage to your liking.

2) Using a spoon, pour the CBD isolate into the bottle. Place a paper funnel on the mouth of the container and pour the CBD into it to make this process go faster.

3) Next, measure out 30 ml of MCT oil, or as much as you desire, with a syringe. Fill the CBD bottle halfway with the measured oil.

4) Now you must screw the cap on and apply some physical pressure. To dissolve the isolate in the oil, shake the bottle for a minute. Don’t worry, the CBD will not crystallize after it has been dissolved. To speed up the disintegration process, place the bottle in a glass of hot water. However, make sure the vial does not settle in water or it will leak.

Your CBD oil is now ready to use! You can now experience its flavor and benefits. For the best results, place it beneath your tongue and hold it there for a few minutes. It is also beneficial to include it in everyday meals, drinks, and smoothies. You can also use it to make CBD muffins by baking with it.

What is the best way to dissolve CBD isolate in MCT oil?

Because CBD isolate is oil-soluble by nature, you can totally dissolve the white powder in any oil! Warming the oil of your choice (MCT oil is my favorite) and stirring in the CBD isolate is all it takes. It normally takes approximately 10-15 minutes for it to completely dissolve. I usually blend two ounces of oil with one gram of isolate, yielding roughly 16.5 milligrams of CBD per milliliter. You can sweeten your tincture by adding flavorings like peppermint or vanilla. You now have an extra-strong tincture that you didn’t have to spend a fortune on.

What is the best way to combine CBD isolate with oil?

Once the oil is heated, pour in the entire gram of CBD isolate. 5. Continue stirring until the liquid is clear and not hazy. It should just take about 5 minutes. The following oils are commonly used as basis in CBD tinctures:

With what may I combine CBD isolate?

You may also apply CBD isolate to your skin or add it to your favorite topical for a boost by mixing it with a high-fat carrier oil. Olive oil and hemp seed oil, for example, are excellent transporters for CBD. In our CBD Drops, we like to use MCT oil, which is made up of medium-chain triglycerides.

When you apply CBD isolation to your skin, you can continue to utilize your favorite topical treatment while getting a boost from the isolate and having complete control over the CBD dosage. Experiment with making your own DIY topical, whether it’s a lotion, salve, or cream.

Insert it in capsules and ingest.

Measure out the CBD isolation and place it in capsules for an easy method to absorb CBD at the dosage you desire. This method works well for anyone on the road who needs a quick way to incorporate CBD into their daily routine as long as the capsules are kept dry, refrigerated, and sealed. Furthermore, purchasing CBD in quantity might make this one of the most cost-effective methods.

Infuse CBD isolate into the food or beverage of your choice.

  • Making a juice or a smoothie with it. Blend it in a blender or stir it in and shake it.
  • Adding it to sauces, soups, stir fries, dressings, and brownie batter, as well as dusting it on salads and other foods. Make careful you don’t overheat the isolate or it will lose its efficacy.
  • Make your own sweetener by combining CBD isolate with honey, syrup, or stevia and pour it over pancakes or French toast.

Add it to hemp flower and roll it.

Add CBD isolate to hemp flower and roll it if you want a high dose of CBD with an entourage effect. The isolate will not generate the entourage effect on its own due to its purity, but it will when coupled with hemp flower. Hemp flower includes a high concentration of CBD as well as other components like terpenes, fatty acids, flavanoids, and other cannabinoids.

Vape or dab it.

Vaping CBD isolate will not make you high, but it will allow you to swiftly enjoy the benefits of CBD. CBD isolation can be dabbed using a concentrate vaporizer or a dry herb vaporizer, or it can be blended with terpenes to make homemade CBD concentrates.

Buy CBD isolate by the gram or wholesale.

This odorless and nearly tasteless pure form of CBD is a safe, adaptable, and cost-effective method to manage your dosage and get more bang for your buck. We sell wholesale CBD isolate at industry-leading margins to businesses looking to buy bulk CBD isolate.

Is CBD in MCT oil soluble?

The Perfect Combination of MCT and CBD Oil Because CBD is a fat-soluble substance, it is most effective and well-absorbed when combined with saturated fats such as MCTs. MCT oil acts as a carrier for CBD to be absorbed as much as possible by the bloodstream.

Is it possible to combine CBD isolate and coconut oil?

Because CBD isolate has already been activated (decarboxylated), it does not require heating before use. Isolate is more versatile than other CBD extracts because of this. CBD Isolate can be taken orally, sublingually, inhaled, or combined with other substances.

When making your own CBD-infused oils, make sure to measure the concentration of each serving precisely. Each milligram of CBD isolate represents around a milligram of active CBD because it is over 99 percent pure.

Water-soluble isolate is mixed into any meal or beverage by consumers. Isolate can also be consumed on its own. CBD crystalline can be metered up and placed in capsules or pills, allowing you to consume an exact quantity.

CBD may be used to flavor almost anything. Sauces, soups, stir-fries, and dressings can all benefit from it. This is accomplished by measuring out the desired amount and adding it to your culinary masterpiece. But be careful not to overheat it or it may lose its effectiveness.

If someone wants to include CBD isolate in their juices or smoothies, they can just add the desired amount and it will be a healthy alternative.

To take CBD Isolate sublingually, simply lay it under your tongue and wait at least 90 seconds for the isolate to dissolve, then wash it down and consume.

CBD is absorbed through the mucosal membranes and transported directly to the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system and liver to provide faster and more effective relief.

This works in the same way that a typical CBD tincture does. One of the best things about CBD isolate is that, unlike CBD oil, it has no taste or odor.

CBD isolation can be combined with terpenes to make homemade CBD concentrates for vaping or dabbing. It can also be fashioned into crystal slabs for use on a conventional oil rig.

You can vape your CBD using the powder. It has a vaporization point of roughly 180-200 degrees Celsius and comes in a variety of flavors.

One of the most straightforward methods to consume CBD is to mix it into an existing vape juice. You have complete control over how much to add and the total potency. This is an excellent choice for current e-cigarette users.

CBD isolation can be mixed in a variety of ways. Making CBD oil tincture with a carrier oil like coconut oil or MCT oil is one of them.

To make topicals, combine CBD isolate with skin oils and apply to the part of your skin that needs to be treated.

If you want to produce your own sweeteners, mixing CBD with local, organic honey or stirring it with stevia is a good way to go. It can also be mixed into the syrup and poured over pancakes, waffles, or other desserts.

CBD is useful not just to humans but also to pets. In fact, pet owners are increasingly turning to this product. It can be used in any treat recipe to improve the animal’s quality of life.

Is CBD isolate a liquid?

The boiling point of CBD is 160-180C (320-356F). CBD may evaporate at temperatures greater than this, so maintain the temperature of your isolate a few degrees below the top end of the spectrum when dissolving it.

How much CBD isolate is there per milliliter?

Fill an empty tincture bottle halfway with any carrier oil of your choice, then pour in the powder.

Fill the bottle halfway since adding the dropper will allow everything to pour out and produce an oily mess all over the place.

Give the tincture bottle a brisk shake before closing it. Allow the bottle to sit overnight before shaking it again. Rep until there is no more CBD isolate sediment at the bottom of the container.

You can also flavor it with a few drops of terpene extract or other essential oils. For a 1 oz bottle, don’t use more than 5 drops.

Use it In Cooking

CBD isolate powder can be used in cooking. There are a numerous methods for doing this, but the best is to first dissolve it in butter or similar cooking oil using the same procedure as for creating tinctures.

The CBD-infused cooking oil can then be used in baking or cooking as desired.

If you’re using butter, make sure to melt it first in a pot or microwave so the CBD isolate can dissolve entirely.

120 mL is a normal stick of butter. As a starting point, each stick should contain 2000 milligrams (2g) of CBD isolation.

Make Your Own Vape Oils

Making CBD-infused vape oils is similar to making CBD tinctures. You can purchase prepared vape oil or manufacture your own by combining vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol.

The standard recipe calls for equal proportions VG and PG, as well as 300 to 2000 milligrams of CBD isolate per 30 mL of oil.

Pick up some concentrated terpenes and add 46 drops per 30 mL of vape oil to increase taste.

Vape it Directly In a Mesh or Mod Vaporizer

Concentrates are vaporized using mesh vapes. They use CBD powders, shatters, pastes, and waxes in their work.

The overall concept is to open the top compartment, expose the stainless steel mesh, and pour in the desired dose of CBD isolate powder. To vaporize the entire amount in one puff, close it and press the power button.

Use caution when using CBD powder because these vapes will vaporize the entire amount in one click.

This method required some practice but provided the most powerful CBD impacts.

This procedure can also be used with various cannabis concentrations. It’s also a common way for those who use delta 8 THC distillates.

Is CBD isolate soluble in oil?

CBD isolate is the pure CBD molecule that has been purified to 99.9% purity. CBD isolate, in its purest form, resembles powder and has the appearance of correctly absorbing into liquids. Regular CBD isolate will dissolve in water but not evenly, and it is still oil-soluble in its pure form.

What can I do to make my CBD Oil more potent?

If you’re ready to create CBD oil for the first time at home, you’ll need to figure out which method to utilize. Food-safe alcohol or carrier oil are the two possibilities for amateurs.

Alcohol extraction entails soaking the hemp plant in alcohol until all of the beneficial chemicals have been extracted. Patience is also required because the extract becomes more potent over time. The stronger the product becomes the longer it sits. This is how tinctures of cannabis are prepared.

Because CBD is fat-soluble, the second method includes employing natural plant oils as carriers. Hemp seed, olive, and coconut oils can be used in this delicate approach.

A third extraction method is also available. This one, however, is only for professionals because it includes the use of compressed CO2. To be effective, this procedure necessitates a lot of room, extremely expensive equipment, and scientific understanding. It’s by far the greatest method for producing CBD oils, but because it can’t be done at home, we’ll stay with the first two.

How much CBD isolate should you consume per day?

  • Oils and tinctures (plant material extracts diluted in ethanol): A liquid that arrives in a dropper bottle.
  • Sprays: A liquid in a container with a nozzle for spraying into one’s mouth.
  • Vapes: CBD oil that has been heated without being ignited, resulting in a vapor that may be inhaled.
  • Drinks: Any beverage containing CBD, typically in the form of hemp extract.

Because prices vary based on the potency of components and production procedures, your CBD product of choice will mostly depend on your personal tastes as well as your budget. Bioavailabilityor how much of what you eat is really absorbed into your bloodstream to have an effectvaries depending on the medium. For example, if you drink 1 milliliter of liquid containing 10 milligrams of CBD, your body will absorb roughly 60% of it, or about 6 milligrams.

According to Jordan Tishler, M.D., a Massachusetts physician specializing in cannabis treatment, cannabinoids have a low bioavailability compared to other medicines. “Products containing emulsifiers like egg yolk (brownies) or lecithin (certain gummies),” he continues, “do better.”

However, because CBD must travel to your digestive system to be broken down and absorbed, consuming CBD via candies or other edibles may take longer to take effect.

Can You Take Too Much CBD?

You can consume more CBD than your body can manage, just like any other chemical. Studies show that doses as high as 1,500 mg per day are well tolerated, although everyone is different.
