Super strong American Gorilla Glue skunk weed is selling fast on UK streets

A super-strength strain of American skunk weed called Gorilla Glue is now for sale on Britain’s streets.

The skunk is named after the best selling US superglue because it is so strong smokers are ‘stuck to their sofas for hours’ after smoking a spliff.

Demand for the mind-bending weed is rocketing in the UK after it surfaced in Birmingham earlier this summer, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after and profitable drugs in Britain.

A cannabis dealer from Birmingham told Metro.co.uk said: ‘Everybody wants Gorilla Glue now, we cannot grow it fast enough, people are willing to pay £40 for a gram when a normal bag of skunk is £10.

‘The price went up because it is so strong so it lasts longer and also the supply is lagging behind demand.’

On average a crop of home-grown skunk takes eight to 10 weeks to grow, but for the best results Gorilla Glue takes 12 weeks, he said.

The dealer added: ‘Our gardener decided to copy the American Gorilla Glue and we tested it on our normal weedheads and they did not leave their sofa for an hour.

‘One spliff between them had them proper lean up, it was obvious why it is named after a superglue. And their (Gorilla Glue superglue) adverts are always on TV too now so it is perfect timing.’

The original Gorilla Glue skunk was invented in Colorado in 2014 by weed boffins who crossed Chem’s Sister and Chocolate Diesel strains to create a hybrid with a high THC content.

Gorilla Glue won the 2014 LA Cannabis Cup and was also named by Herb.com as one of the top three strains with the most mind-blowing psychoactive effects.

In some US states the strain is regulated, taxed and sold.

Leafly, an organisation that provides reviews for marijuana strains and dispensaries, describes Gorilla Glue as: ‘A potent hybrid strain that delivers heavy-handed euphoria and relaxation, leaving you feeling ‘glued’ to the couch.

‘This multiple award-winning hybrid’s supremacy is no longer a secret, and consumers will search far and wide to get their hands sticky with Gorilla Glue.’

However, in the UK where crops are largely grown and distributed by criminals, the strength of the cannabis does not rival the US.

A spokesman for Gorilla Glue, the superglue first sold in America in 1999 and available in Wickes in the UK since 2015, declined to comment about the skunk weed named after the brand.
